    It's been awhile...

Hey, long time since I last posted and I have some questions.

Basically my car has 96k miles and it really should be getting some maintenance done, and after a recent realization of my near future (more to that later) I know I need to do a bunch of things to maintain the car first.

My main question is about the bushings. I can clearly tell they are worn out, so for the ZHP do I HAVE to buy the control arms with the bushings? Can't I just replace the FCAB's and not buy the whole control arms? Also, what about the rears?

I also need new front pads, rotors, and brake fluid. I'm most likely going to go stock, unless anyone else has a better suggestion for something thats either cheaper but still good, or much better and only a bit more money.

Transmission fluid, fuel filter, and pulleys are also on the list, I'll just be going stock parts with those. Another question is about the vanos, I have quite a bit of intermittent power delivery. New vanos seals?

This is all very important to me because I recently completely made up my mind that I will be moving to LA after a vacation I recently took. More specifically Venice beach. I have a job transfer I can easily do without a problem, and I'm going to (hopefully) live at the hostel I stayed at in Venice. Free living in exchange for a few hours a day of working there. I fell in love with LA and its been my dream to live there. An apartment is eventual, this hostel is just temporary. Anyway, so I'm going to absoluetely need to get these things out of the way since I'll be driving across the country from NJ, and working on a car would be next to impossible down there since I wont have my own home to do free maintenance. I cannot WAIT until this happens. I am just dreaming of driving my car top down down the PCH, mulholland dr, sunset strip, the traffic (LOL), etc

If anyone of you guys live in LA, I'll keep try to keep in touch. I'll need as many connections as possible.

Johnny! Good to hear from ya. If you want to do all of that stuff and get it sorted for a cross country trip we can do it in my shop and get it squared away. The engine stuff is easy. The control arms are a pain. If its just the bushings then we can replace those real quick. I even have some very low mileage ones already pressed in and ready for a swap you can have. Contact Ray for brakes and he will give you a great price on the kit for a 330.

Hey, welcome back. Congrats on your new gig. GL with the work. Hit us up when you get here... we're also maybe getting a small SoCal meet (really SouthWest LA is more like it). Check out the CA regional subforum.

BTW, I've always thought VANOS was a general loss of power, not intermittent... but I don't know for sure.

Thanks John!. I thought I remembered you being from SoCal. So southwest LA, thats near long beach? or is that Venice area? I was at a car show during my vacation that had a bunch of bimmers. It was up in the valley in woodland hills. The drive down topanga canyon to the PCH was amazing!

I'm in Manhattan Beach, William is in Redondo Beach. We are thinking of holding the meet at one or our two places. Venice to us would be a 30 minute (max) drive south for you.
