BMW Drivers side air bag recall July 2015 letter

I just got another recall notice for the passenger side air bag - although I had mine already done months ago ...

Why keep sending us notices if most dealers have airbags backordered? Ive tried 2 or 3 times and they just say "we will put you on a list to be called when we have the parts." At this point I am just going to wait until the dust settles and they have plenty of passenger AND drivers airbags in stock.

That's some serious bullshit. My local stealership floated me a brand new 320i loaner (actually gave me a choice between 3 different models), offered to wash my car (as per usual service protocol), and generally rolled out the red carpet and treated me like I was bringing in my new M5 for its 1200 mile service. Was quite impressed.

If these knucklers want to do more repeat business, they should always treat you no differently than that M5 customer.

There's a reason people call them stealerships. My loaner car was a Honda CR-V.

That might be years. There's 33+ million cars to be recalled. At two bags each, that's 66 million, on top of their normal production numbers.

The biggest difference between this recall and others like GM or Toyota is that this is a supplier without the size and financial strength of the manufactures (not that GM was financially stable). Real question is if they can even support such a recall.

Get them to put you on the list, ask what # you are, then check back every two weeks to see how your number moved, they will get the hint to not just keep putting you off.

Perhaps this is the reason for the second recall letter ? Must check with dealer soon....
Has anyone else gotten a second pass air bag recall notice AFTER they already got the initial recall done ?
