BMW Drivers side air bag recall July 2015 letter

Oh so they're sending out letters for the drivers side now!?
Wonder when I will get mine ...
Had my passenger side ab done a few months ago

For some reason I got a second letter for the pass side after I got it done

I think (someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that in the first passenger side air bag recall, Takata basically handed out the same dysfunctional air bag, so they reissued a second passenger side air bag recall somewhat recently. Now the driver's side air bag is also on recall but currently BMW North America doesn't have a "solution" listed yet on their recall website so repair timeframe is TBA

I remember reading it somewhere, but I can't find a source so take it with a grain of salt. Also, BMW's been pretty adamant that there have been zero shrapnel-related incidents involving the affected airbags in BMWs.

I find it funny how they think that matters. All it takes is one. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't.
Luckily it's not really up to BMW.

Yup, just one would really hurt.

My passenger and I had the (unfortunate) opportunity to test both of them out in my '03 330Ci when I hit an antelope last year. Thankfully neither one were defective, as far as I could tell.

Good catch! I don't think that's the article because they only mention in passing that the replacement airbags didn't fix the shrapnel issue. I remember it being mentioned at greater length and more directly, but maybe I'm going crazy. The pertinent paragraph for the lazy:

Takata officials spoke on Capitol Hill Tuesday, saying drivers who had faulty airbags replaced due to shrapnel concerns may need new ones because they still do not know what it behind the fault.
