    245/40/17 or 245/45/17?

Got new wheels and still can't decide on the tire size. I am running on stock springs with koni yellows, no spacers. Wheels are 17x8.5 Arc-8.

Has anyone used a 245/45/17 square setup before?

Added poll, but I reserve to the right to go against the grain.

Nope, this here's a democracy, and you'll do as the majority pleases. Also I have no skin in the game but I would lean toward 245/40/17 since it is only about -1.5% small diameter front and back compared to stock vs 2.5%+ larger in a 245/45/17 tire.

245/40-17 is the correct profile for that setup. 45 is a taller profile and I believe it's considered an odd size. In addition, it's taller, and could potentially have fitment issues.

I went through this exactly same dilemma when I was last shopping for tires. The 245/45-18's were much cheaper, but... they are bigger and aren't the correct size (I would have had fitment issues since my car's low). It's the same deal with 17's; 245/40's are the correct size, even though I believe the 45's are cheaper, but they're a taller profile so it doesn't look right on the car (a LOT of tire) and throws the speed readings off quite a bit and the car is slower to accelerate slightly, though this is barely measurable.

yeah, BP, but 245/45/18 is way too huge. even 245/40/18 that dane runs is quite a bit larger in diameter.

i ran OE M3 Contis for a bit (225/45/18 and 255/40/18) and while not hugely wide, they were 1" taller than stock in the rear and 0.9" taller than stock in the front. that also means you're raising your car 0.5" off the ground too.

Sorry, I meant 245/40. Even the 245/40 is HUGE to me.
