So I was recently replacing the lower intake boot on my car...again...and noticed the upper intake boot had also failed...so its time for that one too.
anyways, i removed the DISA and noticed some oil residue on it and there is some minor oil residue in the intake manifold right there. it's not crazy, but you do notice it in there.
The car drinks a fair bit of oil, but it's not my daily...i've driven like 2-3k miles the past year and gone through like a quart and a half of oil. The car noticeably smokes at startup in cold weather, but once it's warmed up and been driven for it a bit it goes away and is normal. I've had it in the shop for various other issues and no one has ever noted it running bad or the smoking issue, i even had them look for oil leaks last time and they said it looks fine...
some research says it might be the intake manifold gasket? i've replaced the CCV & the oil filter housing gasket like 3-4 years ago and 20-30k miles ago. Any help would be great...i'll post some pictures from the app here shortly.
thanks,
