What the heck happened to my mirror?

So that stuff that makes your mirror auto dim is liquid and some of mine has come out somehow.

    Anyone seen this before?

Any fix other than a whole new mirror?

I would recommend that you take the mirror out immediately, it will ruin your interior. There is a place you can send it to be repaired, someone else will be able to tell you where because I don't know.

Radar-mirror.com repairs these. This is a common problem with the autodim mirrors as they age.

It's not the car you drive, it's how you drive it.

    +1.

This is a fairly common issue with E46 mirrors. The mirror needs to be removed from the car ASAP, before any of that stuff leaks out. Or wrap it un a ton of tarp until you can remove it.

Radar-mirror.com has done 2 jobs for me - added Homelink to my Z4MC mirror, and fixed the current mirror in my ZHP, a former convertible's mirror that has Homelink built-in, that I bought with a bubble already in place. He turns repairs around in one day and does excellent work. Also claims that the problem shouldn't return once he's done the repair. 25 stars - great vendor. Runs $99 last time I checked, a lot cheaper than trying to source another mirror. As the others have said, get it out of there NOW, if that goop leaks onto your interior, it will destroy whatever it touches. Some sort of automotive napalm or something nasty.

Well I sent my mirror off last week and received one back today. Unfortunately they did not send my mirror back but one that does not have the garage door opener buttons. Obviously this is not acceptable so I've sent them an email and will just have to wait and see. Their site doesn't mention anything about swapping them out to save time so I'm not sure if this was a mistake or what.
