Man, that's a great question. I absolutely love it. And then I don't. Only because I still have a few bugs to work out with ESS. The first issues were due to some QA failures, which ESS has completely fixed and was very responsive and helpful throughout that process. The remaining issue is that occasionally I'll get a dip in power as I go through the RPMs, and we are at the stage now of logging data to get to the bottom of the issue and we're making progress.

When the car is running right, this kit is freaking amazing. Power all day long. Torque is immediate and there early, I mean like 2200 RPM early. The install is stealthy. No permanent modifications are required to the car. The components are all very high quality. And the RPM's just FLY by. So much fun.

Really nice list of modifications. Jealous of that ESS supercharger! How has it affected MPG?

I was averaging about 23.8 mpg over the last few years, according to Fuelly. And now it seems every fill-up I make, no matter how hard I am on the car, is like literally 20.9mpg, lol.

One somewhat related interesting tidbit, the only sacrifice with this kit is your OBC MPG calculations. For some reason, with the MS45.1 found in our ZHP, they can't correct the OBC for the larger injector size. Fuelly gives me the most accurate measurement anyway.

Yeah I had this issue when I had my E30 after the S50 swap. I was ecstatic when I saw I was doing 35mpg on the highway (in the rare instances I behaved lol), then reality set in after my first fill up.

I'm sure there's a way to code it... there has to be a way to code it to read correctly. Has to...

Either way, it's probably not worth having the MPG gauge there anyway with a supercharger. Perhaps this is a good time to swap in an M3 cluster and do what's necessary to get a working oil temp gauge?

Its funny but I never noticed the MPG gauge is replaced by an oil temp gauge on the M3 clusters until now. Thanks a lot BP, now I have another mod to research

Most of the other bmw clusters have an injector size adjustment you can make right in the cluster (OBC), similar to the method you use to reset your oil change messages. But for some reason our e46 does not. Its all passed in from the DME. So theoretically, there should be a way to code it out correctly using a DME tune. But from what I've read, AJ at ESS tried a few things and it caused some undesirable effects in the tune, and he abandoned efforts. I dont know the details. I might try to ask him about it.

I've discovered my O2 sensor is going bad, and as a result I'm getting deviation between my bank 1 and bank 2 o2 sensor voltages, so my AFR might not be hammered out yet, and that might impact my mileage a bit. I'm replacing both O2 sensors today and I'll see if that changes the mileage at all.
