    zkw retrofitlab. need wiring help.

I purchased a set of replacement bowls / projectors. It is a euro company. Their shutter solution is to take power from the highbeam to open the shutter. However, the US cars do not use the halogens for high beams. Anyways, I went to plug in the shutter solenoid, but the wiring connector does not match.
Does anyone know I should wire this?

    Thanks, Jason

Take a look at Hieu's lighting guide, he is the lighting guru. Send him a PM if you still have questions, he is a member on here also.

OP, the red/green connector in your picture above triggers the high-beam shutter soleniod in the projector assembly.

You just need to splice in the grey/brown connector from your after-market projector bowls into the red/green connector using T taps or something. I did the FR-R 3.0 retrofit last year and I ran into the same problem since the FX-R 3.0 high beam shutter solenoid had a different connector as well.

Step 10 in the following retrofit tells you to do the same thing. Post back if you still have doubts.

EDIT: Optionally, you can also code it such that when you turn on high beams, your halogens also turn on along with the high-beam HIDs. Thats what I have coded on my car.

I read your thread a few times. Very helpful. I was not sure if the solenoid was polarity specific.
Just got an email back from Retrofitlab, It appears that the shutter solenoid is non-polarity specific.

Wiring up later this evening. Cheers, Jason

Just a guess but, I would say red and green both go to the white and brown to the body/ground.

Wired them up. (white to red, brown to green.) installed the lights.

High beams don't work. Shutter solenoids make noise when high beams switched, but beam pattern does not budge.
I tried switching the wires, (white to green, brown to red). Same results. Red wire is sending + voltage.

I have an email into the company. Unfortunately, I epoxied the shrouds on. The projectors are not easily accessible even if I remove the lens.

Update. Shutters do not operate. Tried both polarity with direct 12v voltage. Time to tear the headlights apart and get a different brand.

These are the retrofitlab units. Didn't realize it was a different company that theretrofitsource (trs.)

Is this for both the projectors or just one of them acting up? I am pretty confident that the solenoids are defective then or maybe the solenoid is working but something is jamming the shutter from going down when the solenoid activates. Much easier to troubleshoot if you have the projectors outside the headlamp and apply 12V via a battery to check the solenoid operation.

I know first thing I did when I got my FX-Rs was check the shutter operation before I started down the DIY road.
