Where do you guys buy your new oil filters/gaskets/etc for doing your own oil changes?
Local auto store or OEM stuff online somewhere? Thanks

If I'm expecting an oil change soon, I usually just add a filter to my order. I usually have an order from an OEM parts dealer every month LOL. I've purchased filters from Pelican Parts, Tischer BMW, and ECS Tuning.
I buy a case of filters from ECS....and get either BMW 5w-30 from dealer w/ CCA discount, or M1 0w-40 from NAPA.....

I usually get filters from www.BimmerWorld.com and the Castrol Syntec European Formula from http://matrixsyntheticoils.com/store...n_castrol.html
I'm in a small town but I've heard that the larger AutoZone stores carry the German Syntec.
Yeah.......if its not on sale its over 7 bux a quart.

I'm willing to pay a little extra for that "made in Germany" peace of mind.
It was 89.99 for 12 bottles the last time I ordered.
I just sheared my drain bolt. It was an ECS magnetic plug. I didn't turn it that hard with my torque wrench. I am not happy right now. The local Autozone doesn't have a replacement part. So, it looks like I will have to drive 40 miles, one way, to the dealer to get this fixed. At least it was on a day off, not a Saturday. I'd rather be dealing with car problems that I can fix than be in the office!
The good news is that since it is a magnetic drain plug, I can put a screwdriver on the outer edge and unscrew it. I think I'll go with hand tight from now on. I think I'll also give the Turner magnetic drain plug a shot.
Curious though, has anyone else had this happen before? Is it common? Sounds like it happens kinda regularly on E46Fanatics. Doesn't matter if you are hand tightening or torqueing.

Wow, can't believe that happened. glad it didn't ruin the pan threads.
I was at farm and fleet today and by the exit doors they had a 12$ rebate for Mobil 1 if you buy 5 or more quarts.
