What do ZHP's price at trade in?

Not that i'm looking to sell or trade-in... lol. but I was just wondering if anyone has traded in their zhp and what price did they give you? Or tried to trade it in but they didn't give you enough. I'm guessing most dealers would just price it as any other 330 but just curious! As a finance major I just like being able to calculate where I am financially in most scenarios haha.

I would say given the enthuiast market for these cars that it wouldn't be worth it, but that is just a subjective opinion not really objective...I can just picture the dealer looking up the vin, seeing some bs numbers for "regular" 330's and offering you the bottom dollar. It would basically be the same as when everyone has to fight with their insurance companies for more value after an accident...although that is a lot more negative of a situation. Dealer could also recognize what it is, screw you on it and then list it for what you told them it is worth and on the forum you told them about when you tried to gain value!!

Yeah, I'd say it would be pretty horrible. Most dealers typically offer you something around KBB wholesale (trade) for a trade-in. If they're offering you significantly more than that, it's because they're making it up on the one you're buying.

I just sold my wife's 2012 Altima. The dealer I bought her used X3 from was offering wholesale trade for the Altima, which was about $8000. I cleaned it up and sold it myself for $10,500. I missed out on the credit I would have received on the sales tax, so I didn't keep the whole $2500 difference - it was more like $1700, but I'll take $1700 for a day of work cleaning and listing the car.

Just for fun, I just booked my '04 6MT vert. KBB trade is $8700. I just paid almost $15k for it in June, and I have no doubt I could sell it locally for at least $13k in the spring without trying very hard.

So, horrible. You'd definitely want to sell - not trade - a specialty/enthusiast car like ours.

Convenience. And sometimes the dealer "shows" you more for your trade.
I don't think I'll ever trade-in another car.

I have traded in two cars in my life. 2003 Buick and 1997 Mazda. Both had mechanical problems that I didn't want to deal with.

Tax purposes. In TN, if you're purchasing a $20k car from a dealer and you trade in a $5k car, you pay tax on $15k.

Is that just sales tax or does that count toward your motor vehicle tax every year? Not everyone has that tax, but we do in CT. It's really asinine, the amounts we have to pay...
