    South Central Tennessee, Historic RXR Towns and Mountain Drive

    I've been asked by the Old Hickory BMWCCA chapter to organize a drive for Saturday March 19, 2016 and will also open it up to anyone here on the ZHP Mafia. I may have done the southern part of this drive last year and remember the trees being in winter bareness at the beginning and on the mountain and in full spring bloom at the finish.

    The drive begins about 1/2 hour south east of Nashville just off I24 and ends close to the Alabama boarder west of Chattanooga, TN. I will be starting the drive at 9:00 AM and should end late afternoon after a late lunch. The tentative rout is posted below. I would say that 97% of this rout is on two lane roads with a lot of twisty back roads. We will go through five RR towns pluss oterh towns and stop on top of the mountain at The Cross at Sewanee. We will then head down the backside of the mountain to have lunch in South Pittsburgh, TN.

    In checking the current path, as the crow flies, it is sixty miles. I haven't driven the full rout in some time but, I'm thinking it will take between 3-1/2 and 5 hours to complete the drive. I did add GPS Coordinates for all the turns in the route directions so, you can get an idea of the route. Hopefully, I will be able to get a detailed map complete before the drive.

    If anyone is interested, let me know and I will give you hotel information and yes there is a very affordable hotel that I have personalty stayed at in the area "$40 ish" per night. If you have any other questions, please ask and I will do by best to answer them.

    Thanks for reading,

    Guy

    Sounds like fun. I wish it wasn't 9:30 hours away from here.

    Drive turned out Great. Had six cars with ten people. Weather and roads were perfect. Hardly ever had anyone in front of the lead car all day. Our table for lunch was set up an ready when we arrived. Everyone loved the route, the stops and lunch.

    Stay tuned for some GoPro footage!

    Heading Out!

    A stop at the Rock on the mountain.

    You Know You Did Good, when a guy that grew up in the town you took a back road through says;
