There are three rubber caps there on intake manifold that often rot and disintegrate. You can see them with mirror or feel them using hands.

Thanks. So those rubber caps are on the back of the intake manifold, huh.

If I had to replace them, would I need to pull the intake manifold or can it stay on.

The job is very cool but I am going to become so busy in a months time. I am working as the Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist. Pay is pretty good, so in a month or two, I am buying myself an exhaust and angel eyes... If my maintenance is done, but this is good motivation.

It can stay on. You need to do it blind, but it is not a big problem.
Also there are few vacuum hoses there and some non-return valve that can be the culprit for your leak.
Edit: Remove the part of firewall (cabin filter housing) to gain more room.

Is that non-return line valve called the oil separator valve? If so the kit I bought has it in it. I just need to buy the 3 plugs. I bet they are not real expensive and hopefully the part #s are on realoem

Non return valve is item nr. 6.

The diagram is for EU 330i and should be the same for ZHP, but do check before and if you order it.

I checked RealOEM.com and coudln't find that diagram. Maybe i missed or maybe because of emissions regulations, the US got a different set up?

Anyways, back with my baby. Just took it for a spin. Hit 90mphs pretty smoothly. Engine is running so much better with the new intake components and DISA valve. Waiting for my parts to show up is all

Also, got rear ended yesterday... in the Fiesta ST at least. Which already had a ruined rear bumper, so getting it fixed under insurance claim.

Luckily, it was a relatively slow speed hit but still, feeling sore today.

3rd time I have been rear ended in Cali. Once was in an automated car wash.....
