I purchased this car 6 years ago on today's date with 35k on the odometer. It has been by far the best car I have ever owned and driven. The build quality and engineering has been beyond expectation and this car never fails to bring a wide grin to my face every time I have driven it. For me it is a privilege to own and I look forward to many more years of ownership of this amazing car

    Charlie's 2008 Porsche 997 turbo

My Porsche experience continued this week when I spent this week with very close friends in Florida.

I got to go with them to the Porsche Driving Experience this week and got to experience the new 992 GT3 on Porsche's race track in Atlanta, GA. What an experience!!! It was a lot of fun driving a car of this caliber and realizing this car had so much more to put out.

At first I was apprehensive in pushing this car but as the day progressed and I got to practice on several aspects of driving my confidence grew and I found myself pushing the car harder than I had earlier in the day. Then my instructor took me for a ride along and showed me just how much more this car could take. Impressive is all I could say.

I will be back there again next year

As I sat into the GT3 I was driving, I realized I better get these pictures before starting because while on the track I would not have the opportunity to do so.

Everything in the cockpit is glass except for the tach. This is the only analog display for the driver. The stereo in this car isn't needed as the engine sounds absolutely amazing!

So why am I talking about my experiences driving a GT3 in my Porsche Turbo thread? Since returning from this event, I have begun planning several upgrades for my speed sled once I have my BMWs sorted That's why

This is very cool. First time I see a dash with the "G-Force Max" info.

I have begun the process of obtaining everything needed for me to upgrade my current PCM 2.1 system to PCM 3.0 in my Porsche. It is an extensive upgrade but will be OEM which I prefer for this car.

I have obtained the new head unit, pictured above, and will be sourcing this module, pictured below, next . . .

Then in July I will source the HVAC

and lastly will source the Bose Stereo Amp that is used on the PCM 3.0 setup as my current Bose Amp won't be compatible once I do this upgrade.

I will also need to rewrite/repin connectors for the new system so it will be a major update for my Porsche. Then once everything has been done I will have to code everything to my VIN w/ desired options for this car.

The current PCM I have in my Porsche looks like this

I will be focusing my attention towards my Porsche soon and looking to add a fixed wing (pictured below) to my car. Specifically, looking to get the 997 turbo Aerowing as this was an option for the 997 turbo. I liked the GT2 wing but feel having this Aerowing installed is a much more appropriate upgrade for my car.

So I'm planning to make the purchase during the "off season" so that I can get the part then send it off to a good reputable body shop to have this part prepped, primed and painted to perfection before mounting it to my Porsche. When I take my Porsche out next season the car should look perfect
