Dash cams - who has them, what do you think of them?

I've done enough with GoPro to know this can't be much better. Cards and batteries are costly and time consuming to change out for good footage.

Realistically, I'll probably end up buying something else before this ever becomes available... this has been in Pre-Order status for a long time!

I felt the same way with all of the subpar driving that was happening around me, and getting a cam was one of my better decisions. Did a load of research, but ended up with this one:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Only $50, does 1080p and has a handful of great features.
And the rumors are true, it does make you exponentially more safe, a definite weight lifted

Like what sillieidiot says...a good dash cam that can view front and back is a better cam.

Does anyone use a Hero4 Session as a dashcam?

I have a Hero3 and would never use it as a dash cam. It's too much of a PITA to use it as one. You'd have to start it manually every time, as well as record manually...

For anyone that does have a dash cam currently, how did you route the power? I'm not enamored with the idea of having a plug constantly in the cigarette lighter...
