Over the past few weeks and since my last track event, I have noticed a creaking in the front. It seems to be more pronounced when going over uneven surfaces and with slight steering input.

It sounds like an old creaky ship and it’s driving me absolutely crazy.

Any ideas from members here?

Front control arms did not fix it. FCABS are AKG and New. Front strut mounts were done with struts. Probably throwing inner and outer tie rods in tomorrow morning.

No, it’s not present when I leave my garage in the morning but it’s there when I get to work, I check it on speed bumps there. It’s not present when I leave work but it’s there when I get home, where I can check it pulling into my garage.

Sway bar bushings?

I guess that’s possible. I may just de-link the sway bar in the morning and see how it does.

I have noticed a few times going through a certain drive through that has about a 3” drop for my left wheel that it will make an audible clunk. I’ve driven through it back to back a few nights confirming the sound to be at the left front.

Sounds like you don't have enough lube on your new AKG LCABs....

No, it’s not present when I leave my garage in the morning but it’s there when I get to work, I check it on speed bumps there. It’s not present when I leave work but it’s there when I get home, where I can check it pulling into my garage.

very interesting - i am experiencing the exact same issue, it started about a week ago - only when the car is warmed up.

after serious brain crunching hypothesizing i am wondering if it's the passenger side poly FCAB - which sits right next to the headers.

if i'm not mistaken, we are both running AKG poly FCABs......

Maybe, if the sway bar being disconnected doesn’t change anything I’ll fab up a heat shield for the fcab. I’ve got some old RR front tension strut heat shield kits laying around.

the weird part is that there is already a heat shield there from the factory.

but maybe rob is right... not enough lube? or maybe when they heat up, the tolerances aren't as good. i dunno.

let me know what happens with your car, and i might try some Z4M FCABs i've got here.

I remember reading a thread here or on E46f where a guy had similar issues. I believe in his case the strut mount nuts were not fully torqued down and once the engine bay heated up, he would hear creaking sounds too. Start there maybe?

That would be weird since they’ve been installed for 9 months now...

I dunno. I will investigate in the next couple of weeks.
