    255's on an 8" rim?

What would be the negative affects of putting a 255/35/18 tire on an 18x8 rims.

    Also.....is it possible?

The other half of the question is I am running a 245/35/18 in the rear right now. What would the effects be if I decided to go with a 245/40/18 in rear....and I would plan to keep fronts at 225/40/18.

    Thanks

    Imagine the tire.... But thicker.
The problem with running a 255 on an 8 inch wheel I that your tire will sit wider than the rim. Problems with that is that it will be a bit more prone to rolling as the wall of the tire will be stretched over the outside. The rubber will have more travel if you will.

ok......I think I'm gonna go with the Yokohama AVID ENVigor from Tirerack. Do 225/40/18 in front, and 245/40/18 in rear. We'll see what happens.

I knew the side wall was the concern here, but wanted to here waht you guys had to say.

Don't you have 8" all around? Why not put the same size tire up front?

Money, and then it wouldn't be staggered, and it won't fit.

I vote square. Even if that means 235's all around.

With a square setup, you'll see a handling improvement (less understeer). My old M3 had 17x7.5 with 225/45 and 17x8.5 with 245/40 and when I went to 8.5 with 245s all around, the handling was noticeably more neutral.
