    I am impressed that guy could squeeze the S85 in there. The build thread indicates he spent $20-30k, not including the Touring.

    indeed, it is crazy how good it sounds. almost good enough to buy an E60 M5.

    i wonder how much more it weighs.... longitudinally it would not hang as far forward (V10 vs I6), but if it weighs more.... well, in a Touring that might bring the weight distribution back to 50/50. (stock is 49F/51R.)

    I actually looked this up a while ago when I stumbled upon that s85 wagon on the inter webs. Apparently the s85 only weighs 60-70 lbs more (if I recall correctly) than the s54. Of course the s54 weighs quite a bit more than the m54.

    The correct answer is always LS. Small, lightweight, fuel efficient for a V8, cheap to mod, cheap to maintain. Who wants to help me LS an NB1 Miata?

    Manual? I wish! It was a 6 speed auto... Only the 3.0 was available in manual and those parts couldn't be used to adapt the V8

    Wiki quotes the S85’s weight at a portly 529 lbs. Highly accurate (see: random) internet sources approximate the M54B30’s weight around 375 lbs
