agreed. my wife and i really wanted an E70 X5... they are gorgeous. on paper, they are awesome. but in reality... too expensive.

LOL, that was a good one.
i considered an E91, especially since canada didn't get RWD ones - but i just don't like the interior, or the quality. my dad bought an E90 335xi last year and it felt like a pile of garbage when i drove it.
was very happy to get back into my E46.
dude, never underestimate the power of the samurai.

brought home the wife's new rig last night: 2007 X3 3.0si (260hp), M Sport, 6-speed. black on black. 1 of 6! (details quoted below.) it's pretty cool. nicely optioned - being an M Sport, it's got the anthracite headliner, nice M steering wheel, gloss black shadowline trim, MTech bumpers, adaptive bi-xenons, etc. 3.0si not only means 260hp, but bigger brakes, too.
it has higher KM (284K KMs... ~175K miles for you imperialists), but was well-maintained for the last 60K KM - all of the stuff i don't like dealing with was done (fluid changes), brakes are fairly recent, came with two keys, a full set of weathertech mats, sprint booster (installed), and two sets of wheels - 18" square (style 113, winter), 19" staggered (style 147, summer). planning to ditch the 19's and get some lower-offset 18's with some larger rubber - likely 1" larger in diameter. it needs it.
the mirrors don't work (heat or power functions - gotta figure that one out), but everything else is good.
overall, really impressed with the vehicle, and the handling. will do bushings (OE replacements) and dampers (either koni FSDs or bilstein B6), and that's it. this is the newest car i've ever owned.

Well done, peter. In for pics. LOL @ imperialists.

Congrats Peter! I know people hate on the E83 but I love it. It drives very well, and the LCI models I think have aged nicely. I always wanted the 6MT, but the only one I could find when I bought mine was red and about 1500 miles away.
The N52B30 is definitely a fun little powerplant, even if the car is 4000 lbs.
Check the front sunroof drains (they are right behind the front wheels on either side). They will be clogged, and (edit: removed extra word) you'll need to do it at least once a year. Otherwise you get the lovely experience of wet floorboards from dripping down the A-pillars
At least you don't have to worry about that garbage GM automatic tranny. Has the transfer case already been addressed?
