I would really consider filling that bar with some epoxy to strengthen it. Even if it makes it heavier I think the trade of would be worth the extra weight. BMW uses some strong 2 part epoxy to fill the subframe on the E46 to strengthen it.
I think this is the stuff.
BAV Stage 1 - BlueBus - UltraGauge - V1 - Orion V4's - ARC-8's - Brembo 996
TTFS Engine/SMG Tune/CSL 255 - SGT Headers/Sect 1/SCZA - Evolve Eventuri
VIS XTS CF Hood - CF Lip/Console/Diffuser - OE CSL Trunk - BWS 500S 9k/11k
Nice that's the stuff for use with my reinforcement plates two bonded to the sheet metal.
I need to take the bar off and try sticking out clothes hanger all the way through and seeing if it makes it all the way through. If it does and I just need to figure out how to get injected in there without filling the whole thing so I can still get the end of pieces back on.

The only issue with that 3M epoxy is the temp rating which I do believe is 170 degrees, plus the added weight which is minor.
I would consider using this Spray Foam Insulation. It's really lite weight and withstands higher temps, plus it's pretty dam strong once dry. I bet half a can would fill that entire bar.

Now that I’ve finally seen one of these bars in person I understand why people lust after them.
Edit: it was also really nice meeting you today. This car is awesome from end to end.
