I want that, but I don't want to pay the high price of an F10 shift knob.

I got it from Illirep’s FS post. Selling my non-illuminated knob will help offset the cost. My 12 year old cup holder looked like shit next to my 6 month old armrest delete console, so the Euro tray really tidies up the interior.

And before anyone says my boot is backwards, yes I know. I didn’t buy Coby (Spenser, you dumbass) and I’m regretting it. It would not fit the frame under proper orientation without ripping the seams apart, so this is what I’m dealing with. In short, CliqTuning (I think is the name?..they post on eBay and Panjo and I think it came from Latvia like my Z4 mirror) is not worth the savings. I’m sure Aesop had something about “buy it right, and buy it once,” but that might’ve been my dad. I get those two confused sometimes.

For some reason I prefer to keep the shifter boot with regular stitching, or at least I convinced myself as much.

I originally wanted it to break up the black cube/black leather interior. Now that I’ve added some silver cube on the dash that’s less of a concern. Matching the tri-stitch Coby wheel Peterman put in was an added bonus

Got in the car yesterday morning for work, and no lights. Maybe I’m just tired and am seeing things? Put key in, turn, silence.

Checked the battery with a multimeter: 3.4v

Charged all day while I drove the X3 to work, but it only got up to 8.4v, so I replaced it last night. It sat all weekend, and the garage temp was quite cold. I’ve had to jump it twice since I bought it (once because it was hotter than hell in August, and last week because I didn’t tap into switched power like I thought when I put in the F10 knob. It was only a 2 year warranty battery, and was maybe a year old when Peter bought it. C’est la vie.

did you keep the F10 shift boot and adapt it to your e46 shiftboot plastic trim?

is it possible to remove the boot frmo the shift knob cleanly? cut? does the silver bottom ring screw off and screw back on?

i found a place online with brand new F10 illuminated shift knob for $138 + $10 shipping. they are in germany. I placed an order so we will see if I get scammed or not lol.

The ring does not screw on/off. I think you'd have to cut the boot off - will have to check when I get back to my car. Took the rental to work today...
I just said screw it and adapted (glued) it to my shifter frame.

The old E9x M-Sport knob I had also had an integrated boot, but for that, all I had to do was break off the tabs that held the boot on and the knob cleanly separated from the boot. Have to see if the F10 one is the same way.

It's not the car you drive, it's how you drive it.

    That's the M-Sport knob from an E9x or 135i.
