The rubber strip that goes over my coupe headlight is disintegrating. I'm wondering if I need to replace it. Not sure what it's purpose is. Maybe keep rain out? But there is a hundred other areas where rain would blow in.

It seals the hood to your headlights protecting your engine and lights from unnecessary water coming in. They are important AND inexpensive

They are fairly cheap. Buy 2 new ones for both headlights.
