Does the oiled AFE aftermarket filter discolor over time?

I bought a used intake some months ago. I assumed it was dry based on the color. However today I saw a listing on craigslist that they say has discolored, but they have oiled it. This left me wondering if it could actually happen. The discolored filter color seems pretty similar to the dry one.

I haven't used AFE intake. I would contact AFE and ask them directly. Any part number on the filter?

I don't recall seeing one, but I'll check at some point.
