    I think I have it. Fill til full, cap it and warm the fluid, shift into R and D a few times. Put into Park and then top it off with about another quart and a half until it dribbles out once the pan is warm to touch. Pretty straight forward. I have my fingers crossed as this thing sure was acting like the tranny was slipping. If it was I just inherited a new Company Car and the wife gets the 2014 328d. I will baby the hell out of it on the highway.

    Hey, just as a follow up, I got everything back together this morning. That other gasket ring did need to come out up in the transmission passage. When I went to put the filter in it would not seat all the way. When I pulled it out to inspect, it had brought the other orange seal with it. This was a bonus as it wasn't moving very easily. All buttoned up and rolling again.
