Yellow DSC & BRAKE light

Recently I've had a couple instances where I'll be driving along and the DSC light and parking brake light will both come on simultaneously in yellow. Does not appear to affect the drivability at all, tried pushing the DSC button, but they don't turn off. Once I turn the car off, and get back in it, lights are off. Anyone know what this is about? I'm assuming there is a finicky sensor somewhere, not able to find any solid info on it anywhere

I forgot what my exact problem was with the lights, but I had the steering wheel angle sensor replaced and that fixed it.

I was about to say, on my e39 530i and e53 X5 3.0i I had that problem and it was the steering angle sensor. Replaced it and never had that issue again.

Could also be wheel speed sensor.

Scan your car for errors/codes, it will have them stored even if the lights are not on.

Cool thanks. I did recently replace my steering wheel, is that sensor inside the wheel behind the airbag?

It's not, it's somewhere in the middle.

It's a bit easier to do on e39 and e53 but still PITA.

Ugh, looks lovely... As long as it doesn't affect performance and the brakes still function, I can live with it now and then

Scan for the codes.

Following items can be:

Dirty wheel speed sensors
Dirty brake fluid
Brake Master pressure sensor 1 or sensor 2
Steering wheel angle sensor

agree with vas... scan the car. i had this issue before on my Touring - clearing the code for the steering angle sensor worked until the next drive, then it would come back. after two consecutive recalibrations (in the same PASoft session), it's been fine for almost 5K miles.

it turns off your traction control when they come on. but it's ok you don't need it, it just forces you to focus more lol
