Was your water pump weeping out the vent or around the perimeter? The shaft seal is what usually fails... I'd be very surprised if it was leaking at the o-ring that seals it against the block.... I'm on my 3rd water pump as well, My second was a Bosch with a metal impeller.... the bearings failed. That one only lasted about 40k. The one I'm running now is OEM.
