    Shady Odometer Records... Input?

Ok I am no expert but this looks weird... seller told me there is 125k miles, but I did a VIN check and saw this:

    09-09-2004 2 mi
    11-08-2006 16,246 mi
    08-15-2013 224,666 mi
    02-25-2016 270,528 mi
    05-11-2016 EXEMPT

    What is exempt?

And thats some usage from 2006-2013.

Too suspect or just a technical glitch?

In Texas, cars older than 10 years are EXEMPT to report mileage on a new title.

It's kind of weird because on my title, it says "exceeds mechanical limits" for the odometer reading, which is extremely unlikely considering it's digital and has 6 digits. It seems that states have different ways of dealing with older cars and their titles.

Regarding usage; this is totally possible. I put about 194k on my car in the nearly 6 years I've owned it. The thing I'd be worried about is what the seller is reporting versus what's on the odometer statements. You can usually tell when a car has 270k on it versus 125k; the differences should be night and day.

It's not the car you drive, it's how you drive it.

Post a picture of the gauge cluster? Maybe it's possible they did a cluster swap from a lower mileage car and it still has the tamper dot on?

Where is the tamper dot... I do see a dot just to left of the temporary trip odometer, not sure if that's normal.

It means that the gauge cluster and the computer have different mileage recorded.

Yes it's there for me between the "mileage" and the trip meter number, sigh, WTF, I sincerely hope this dealer is just that stupid and didn't know, gonna make me travel 200 miles on a lie. Funny thing is the car overall in no way looks like a 250k mile car, so weird.... I doubt the previous owner would have replaced the seats, steering wheel, shift knob, paint etc etc.....

Do you have a link to the car? Maybe for some reason the computer was replaced?? I think it's the EWS? Not sure how all of that works
