Haha! Yes I would consider myself an artist. Just wait until I get my MacBook and a DSLR. I'll be throwing down pics and vids left and right, for the BMW of course.

    Damon and his ZHP

Picked up a pair of 135i calipers for 140 bucks! Shout out to @704sw for the tips.
Bought off of a wrecked 135i off of eBay, mileage is unknown but they look good!

Then I noticed one of the pad guide pins was stripped really badly.

Fortunately I was able to get it out after some improvising and a couple hours of sweat. I guess the treads inside the caliper were damaged from a rock or something so what I ended up doing is pulling messed up threads through the whole caliper. Other pins thread nice half way through but then it gets tight, I’m able to tighten it down good and get it back out easily so I may tap it with the exact same bolt size, but otherwise I think it will be just fine!

Now I need to decide if I want 135i caliper rears or Porsche 996 rears 🤨

Hey Damon, you can get a replacement hardware set for under $15 from Dorman.

You can also do what I do, and that’s to just remove the caliper altogether (and leave the guide screws in-place) when you need to change pads. Obviously you’ll need to compress the pistons to fit it back over the rotor, but it’s not that bad. My hardware wasn’t in great shape either, and frankly I just don’t have the best luck with Torx fasteners.

Did you order the brackets from RebootEngineering yet? The guy was really easy to work with, and I had the brackets in-hand no more than 4 days after I ordered them.

Also be careful with the bleeder screws. I haven’t been able to find a part number for them yet (I admit I’ve not called Brembo yet), and nobody on the 1er forums seems to know the thread pattern.

I did not order the brackets yet, I will soon though. I will also be replacing all of the hardware, I guess I won’t be replacing bleeder screws but they look good. I may replace the rubber caps but they are only a couple bucks. I will also be replacing the pistons and seals. Do I go OEM?
