I'm making progress on the E38 and discovering that a proper dumbass worked on this car before. They just chucked in Bilstein's in and kept all old hardware from EDC shocks which is wrong and not compatible and resulted in broken rear shock mounts.

Just placed a huge order for new parts. This 2-ton turd will ride like new again!

My thoughts exactly. Should probably check the front bumper for leftover tools.

Dude, I had a nearly identical experience on my buddy’s 370z. “Yea I’ll be happy to put new brake pads on for you.”

Apparently a silverback gorilla torqued his lug nuts to a billion foot-pounds. To make matters worse Nissan uses stainless nuts with a chrome cover to look nice and it oxidizes between the layers, causing it to expand. Meaning it’s no longer 21mm but not quite 22mm. I couldn’t even get the first wheel off his car...

That was surprisingly hilarious to me; probably made me think of all the times that's happened to me. And, I agree, it did sound like a really bad porno. Lol.

Glad the bolts didn't break on you.

This is one hell of an epic thread. I remember cruising through the first 15 pages when I joined here and thought, "wow I should just look through here for vacation ideas."

Now I realize, I just replied to your thread on the E38 forum about this car and suspension stuff. TL;DR over there = get some good progressive lowering springs to pair with the Bilstein's and it will have the response and firmness of the ZHP without harsh bumps. Go Sachs or Bilstein touring if you want softer. New control arms front and rear are mandatory for tightness. Edit: just realized 77k! Those arms may not even be spent yet at those miles

Good luck...I guarantee you're going to find more interesting stuff based on your video... Check the ABS wheel sensors for some interesting repairs. I feel like those are some of the first for cutting corners...

Funnily enough, it was only this wheel that gave me trouble.

Lol! That sounds terrible. Typically I don't have this type of issues because I remove wheels on my cars often and I steer clear of German rust buckets.

Lol, thank you. To appreciate moments like, you have to experience it yourself.

    Thank you!

ZHP with Koni FSD and stock springs is one of the best overall rides that I experienced. It ticks all of the boxes perfectly.

I won't be going with lowering springs, not my kind of a thing and it will just make a fuss when I take it to TUV. I ordered standard reinforced springs and I'll keep Billy's for now since they are in good condition. Hopefully the ride is not too harsh for my taste.

It's getting complete suspension overhaul, everything is worn out and due to be replaced. I actually have no idea if 77k are the original miles since it came with no service history to me.
Thrust arm bushes bear a date stamp from 2013 and look to be improperly installed and torqued with the car up in the air as they are twisted.

Wheel speed sensors are shot in the back, that's getting sorted as well. Rear ball joints shot as well, that's a fun one...

Btw, the complete car is in the original paint! I couldn't believe that given that the car is 20 years old but I'm super stoked about it! The plastic trim around the car has been repainted in body color and all of that will be replaced.
