    These bolts are always designed to fail before the pan threads would. In this case....waaaaaay early.

    I had the exact same failure with my ECS plug. I did not over torque it either. I think it is too thin between the threads and the head.

    Oil filters from Dealer. Oil is Mobil 1 0w-40 or BMW 5w-30

    Thanks for the heads up

    I had no idea these needed to be changed regularly (I didn't change them last oil change), even though common sense would dictate they do.
