Any type of oil on the maf sensor is not a good idea.

GTFO... Seriously? Just plugs into your phone? How accurate is it, and have you used one? I have an iPhone, is this only for android? I mean, for $12 this is crazy! I actually have PA Soft, but I only have a work laptop so I've never actually used it since I can't get past the firewall to install it.
You said it man

Actually it plugs into the car's diagnostic port and you connect to it via Bluetooth. I’ve heard people have mixed results. I got one a couple of years ago and haven’t used it for a long time, mostly because I got a code scanner as a gift, but IIRC it frequently had trouble connecting and I just stopped using it because it was frustrating.
Advance Auto here will pull the codes or lend the reader to use in the parking lot.
Nothing unplugged when you installed the GruppeM?
That's kinda what I figured might happen, the cost is just too low to have it work perfectly or we'd all have one! Thanks for the mini review
Autozone will scan for free as well, but their scanner is pretty generic, and I believe will only register if you have a CEL on.
The only thing to possibly be unplugged is the MAF sensor plug, which is plugged in for sure. You don't unhook/unplug anything else for the install, it's very basic.

Cadeez, you can get an OBD scanner for iPhone. Typically the way they work is that the Android ones work over bluetooth, and the iPhone ones work over WIFI, and you use Torque or Dash Command or similar apps to pull the codes. Carly is a popular one for iPhone and BMW, but with extra features comes extra cost. It's a good iPhone app, though.
