Any OBDII scanner is generic unless it also contains the BMW specific code set. There are soft codes and hard codes... soft codes usually go away after a while or ignition key cycle...

Problem solved!! It was absolutely the MAF...and now I feel pretty silly about my mini freak out. I pulled off the GruppeM intake and took it completely apart, holy sh*t was that thing was covered in oil! The PO must've "oiled" it right before he sold it to me...with the whole bottle of oil. Also there was oddly some sand in in all that oil, so I hit everything with brake cleaner and scrubbed it with a toothbrush. I shot the MAF sensor with a ton of MAF cleaner, 3 separate times, letting it dry each time. Put it all back together and it runs as smooth as can be. Also threw a new set of plugs in there as well for good measure, which was a noticeable difference.

Shout out to William (BMWCurves) for swinging by with his PA Soft and running my codes, of which there really weren't any. But while he was in there he also removed the auto lock at 7mph and added the unlock all doors with one press of the key button. Successful Saturday

I like having that on. Around here we call that the Baltimore Protection Package.

Glad it was an easy fix OP
