Very true. That old saying you will be disappointed every time you look at it.

Possibly depending on condition and price.

Keep that option in your back pocket. Black carpet and lower dash with grey leather and black and grey door cards sounds nice.

That looks good, is it stock? I can’t even find a car yet.

That's what I'll be doing to my MB / Gray. Looks so much better with the two tone.

No, BMW did not two-tone grey interiors from the factory. It involves some extensive interior work to get it to look like that. The stock grey is just an oversaturation of grey... the carpets, lower dash, seats, door cards; everything is GREY!

Getting it to the point of a proper factory-looking two-tone requires the following:
    * Replacing the carpet with black
    * Replacing the dash and glovebox with black
    * Replacing the shift boot (if grey) and handbrake boot (if grey) with black
    * Replacing the seat controls panel and seat backs with black
    * Replacing the center console, coin holder/storage tray, and armrest with black equivalents
    * Replacing or respraying the rear parcel shelf to black
    * Replacing footrest with black
    * Replacing floor mats to black
    * Either dying or swapping door cards to black, then swapping in the grey centers
    * Replacing the mirror switch blanking plate on passenger door with black, as well as spraying speaker grilles

It's a lot of work, mainly because the amount of grey is overwhelming and BMW didn't two-tone any of the interiors available for the US non-M E46's except for Natural Brown. Natural Brown is two-toned in the way I just listed here.

For comparison, here is a stock grey interior:

Here is the two-toned grey interior linked above:

And for comparison, here is a factory two-toned interior. You'll note subtle differences in the above pic and a factory two-tone, namely the shift boots and arm rest.

It's not the car you drive, it's how you drive it.

Yes it looks great that way. All interiors should have at least had an option for a toned down version of the interior color. I'd love to do a beige/black interior. Way too much beige right now.
