Thread: DME EWS delete

    DME EWS delete

Has anyone done a DME EWS delete on their cars?

I’m considering it so I don’t run into issues later. The DME is basically fried... chicken

    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I haven't done this, but could you elaborate? What is EWS?

A new ECU will run $1800, something I'm not willing to pay.

Refurbished ECUs can be found for around $200. Is there something special about the ZHP ecu?

Also do we have an MS43 or MS45 ECU?

Nothing special. I don't know what year your car is but the later years are MS45.1. You should be able to tell from the label on the DME

Could you find one out of a junkyard and have it coded to your car? Is that even possible?

Just looked into it. ZHPs have an MS45.1 DME which is not as easy to "hack" as the MS43 DMEs.

I've found a handful of people who can work with it, and it looks like it'll be $500+ to get it fixed.

    No fun.

Ews delete will not do you any good if you do it to your existing DME and then it takes a shit. As soon as you put another DME in there it's going to be locked with the ews again. deleting ews in an existing DME just means that you can take that DME and put it in another car with no issues on starting it.
