No clue, which has me a bit worried about sticking a new one in.

This guy will clone an old DME to a new one and has a bunch of nice addons. Hopefully he does it right. I will be reporting back in due time. I don't think I want to do the EWS delete for $350. The Euro-Tune for the secondary O2 sensor and secondary air is tempting, but if the communists bring emissions testing to my city, i'll have to have the DME reflashed which is stupid.

I’d like to give a quick shoutout to kasselperformance; The clonsed DME worked. Didn’t have to do an EWS delete, he transferred everything from the old DME to the new one.

    .... And it's dead

My worries about the underlying cause of the fried DME might not be solved.
I have no clue what would cause a DME to fail -_-

My first instinct is a low battery voltage. The battery has needed replacing for a while, but this shouldn't cause the ECU to fail.... no?

I would think it's more like water getting in somewhere it shouldn't be getting into, causing a short. Or perhaps a bad ground or something...
Do you see any physical evidence of the DME being affected by external elements? Water stains, corroded wiring, etc.?

It's not the car you drive, it's how you drive it.
