can we get bmw to make more performance strut braces?

So, I just scored a BMW performance intake for Olive, and wudahyaknow, i now must have a performance strut brace.

But we all know it's NLA, how hard they are to find, and when you do find one, the asking price is astronomical. So now I'm wondering, if BMW knew that there was enough of a demand from the E46 following, do you think there is any way we could convince them to put the part back in production?

Another thought, could we take a PSB, put it into a CAD program and have them made up? Certainly the original design can be improved upon- it looks awesome, but I know the originals are prone to cracking. If CF wasn't in the cards, maybe it could be made with a solid metal piece.

I don't know, what do you guys think? How off my rocker am I?

BMW wouldn't do another run. And, even if they did, the pricing would be astronomical. Those "fire sale" prices were just to get rid of old stock. The original prices I believe were much more expensive; I found a post by ECS on Bimmerforums stating the retail price was right around $1k.

The hardest and most expensive part about re manufacturing would be the tooling to produce the pieces... you'd have to sell a shitload of them to break even

I’m not expecting 2010-11 prices but surely they would be better than what second hand pieces are trading at.

Does anyone have a contact at bmw corporate that I could maybe send an email to? No harm in trying right?

+1 hard tooling and manufacturing setup would be expensive. They will need to tune the manufacturing line to ensure good yields. Scale of economy would require them to sell them in large volume.

And while they're at it, how about pumping out more performance intakes

For the E46 platform this is not going to happen unfortunately.

That train has come and gone a long time ago....

No. They don't make normal parts for the cars I work on let alone rare parts for a somewhat modern car. BMW AG doesn't care about the old cars
