AFE Pro Dry S Filter / Drop-in Filters

    Afternoon all,

Couldn't find any threads on this - I'm coming up on the 15k mark and instead of going with the regular Mann filter, I was considering one of the Drop-Ins this time round (AFE, K&N, etc). AFE seems a little pricey at $70+, but gets decent reviews.

Has anyone ran one for an extended period of time, say 5-10 years? Any CELs? How often do you clean it? My concern is some claim these do not keep as much dirt out of the engine (which is why guys claim to get a better sound, increase MPG slightly, slightly better throttle response). i.e. more air getting in lets more junk into the engine. However, if those claims are unsubstantiated, I feel it makes sense to just drop one of these in there and never have to buy another one.

I'd definitely go the dry route to avoid the MAF sensor issues. Any feedback is welcomed.

I have always been averse to trying things outside of OEM under the hood. Help me break out of my shell, guys.

I've been running the filter you linked for over a year without any issues. I think the general consensus on filters is that as long as it isn't oiled, you won't have any problems.
