i hate the welded bit. i understand it was likely done for strength, but it still pisses me off.

yeah. it's nasty. especially in your beard. you just gotta shave that business off... there's no cleaning it out.

    LOL!!

    even still... that seems crazy.

i'll likely go with another helical LSD, they suit my needs (i don't want lockup on decel).

in the next episode of As The Turbos Spool....

one of the rear wheel bearings (sounds like RR) is starting to get noisy. 81K KMs (~50K miles). way too early. ordering a bearing (or two) this week.

Make sure the wheel bearing plug is plugged in first before you order one.

picked up a 41K-mile 3.46 diff for the 335 yesterday. it's supposed to have a bolted ring gear, so i'll find out once i drain it and pop the rear cover. they only made the bolted, large-case 3.46 for like 1 year, so if it is what i hope it is, it was a good find.

short term plan: drain, open case and inspect, reseal, install w/ new fluid, and see how the 3.46 is (stock is 3.08).

long term plan: send the 3.46 out for LSD install. MFactory (curious about the group buy), or Wavetrac. would prefer to try the Wavetrac this time, but price is a major factor. i've also been thinking about installing the LSD myself if it's a bolted diff - doesn't look too difficult. would save me some money.

after a long drive home from toronto in some sketchy weather last night, LSD is higher up my 'must' list. i need more grip in this thing.
