"Do Not Drive" Recall? I already had mine done?

    https://www.thestreet.com/technology...nds-of-drivers

Just dropped... Apparently ammonium nitrate degrades and gets potentially more powerful over time?

I already had my takata airbag recalls done, does this affect my vehicle?

    I'll call the dealership tomorrow.

Ok here is an article that says this is for people who have had the takata airbag recall done.

Yeah it's been over a year since a bunch of us got our recalls done. Why is it newsworthy now? Kinda confusing

I think this is BMW realizing there are still 90k cars that have the defective airbag and pleading their owners to bring them in.
Don’t think they ever issued a stop driving order for this recall previously, so that’s new.

    "E46/E39/E53 Airbag Recall Recall BS"

Apparently some of the airbag replacements were actually old stock defective airbags.
    https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...recall-inbound

Recall 19V-015: Only applies to vehicles with sport steering wheel. Check based on pictures I sent. Serial number needs to start with BAM xxx-1085 to require replacement.
Recall 15V-318: If recall shows open by VIN, replacement is required
Recall 19V-698: Check based on pictures I sent. Serial number needs to start with BAM to require replacement.
Recall 17V-047: Check based on pictures I sent. Serial number needs to start with BAM xxx-1085 to require replacement.

    To check your Airbags:

If your airbag has a "White sticker" on the back of it, you're in the clear.

If your airbag has a "Yellow Sticker" on the back with BAM XXX... you need another replacement.

I had both Airbags replaced 4/2022, and the airbags start with serial number T20B210 and T20B241.

Wtf. I wonder if I can even get my Canadian car done at the BMW dealer here. Since it's a safety issue, they should honour it if it needs one

I do believe as long as the vehicle doesn’t have a salvaged or flooded title they can’t deny the repair.

Should be fine. My US > CAN import wasn't done following the official BMW process, so my car was basically grey market/never imported to Canada in BMW systems. Never had any issues getting recalls done even if it took a while to find/validate my VIN lol

Edit: I should mention that the 5 recalls I did were announced in both US and Canada. If this specific one is a US-only recall, I'm not sure your car would be in the list; and then you might have to wait until the Canadian recall gets announced before being able to get the work done. Might be different if you registered the import with BMW.
