My car gets a lean code about once a month, before I replacing parts blindly does anyone have a recommendation for an affordable smoke test machine?

Spenser and I were able to do it with a simple pump for air mattresses. Cut a finger off of a nitrile glove, ran the tube into the finger w/ a rubber band to hold it, then stretched the glove over the intake elbow. Ideally you would put a cigar in the inlet of the pump, but we didn't have one handy so he pumped while I used my soldering gun to burn cardboard right in front of the inlet. It worked great!
An E46 Fanatic offers them for ~$120 shipped. https://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=883920
A Bimmerforum discussion mentioned a Chinese eBay model for $135: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...=smoke+machine
2006 330ci ZHP - Silbergrau Metallic / Stoff Laser/Anthrazit / Alu Black Cube trim / Adaptive Xenon headlights / HK hi-fi system / heated front seats
Looks like all the options are mineral oil burners, I'll probably go with the e46f guy if he responds. 2nd option is this paint can lol.
