Didnít know you could reprogram and update the V1 (I bought a used, presumably old one) if I knew I would have kept it. Really proving how little I know about these puppies, subbed

Right now Iím leaning towards the Rodenso Pro M for $450. The only reason being the blind-spot detection filtering is supposed to be really good. The alternative would be a Uniden R3 for $275 which offers superior performance but doesnít have BSM filtering.
Oh I thought this was an old thread. Sorry for the above cheeky response. Pizza is a weirdo and infatuated with trunk lids.

I have owned an R3 since it became available to the public. Out of my 3 hours of driving, I may have K band go off at BSM one or two times. Itís always an Acura/Honda. I leave mine in city mode so K band is at 15% detection strength but when I get a legit K band itís strong and forceful enough to get my attention as BSM is just a blip. I donít have a lot of time before Iím in a legit K band kill zone but BMW brakes are great at deceleration without nose dive. I might be going 10mph over so itís not a problem or bother.

If Iím feeling more spirited and roads are more open. I used my advanced mode which allows me to customize how much Filtering, what to filter, and how strong. My advanced is with K band at the lowest setting of 30% so it might be a tad more chatty with BSM than city mode but itís hardly a bother. Any cop that has been KA or K banding is met with a BMW doing the speed limit.

The reason I choose the R3...price vs sensitivity and performance. Itís just hard to beat even with prices today. Iíve daily driven with a V1 and a 9500ix for many years before.

Arrows seem to be the rage now that the V1 patent has left but if Iím getting an audible alert, Iím slowing down before I ďlookĒ where it is coming from and analyze. I donít miss arrows 98% of the time other than when Iím getting a constant KA or K lingering. Then I know a police is traveling with me at similar speed and direction of travel. So it would be nice to know if they are behind or in front of me. Not a big deal for hundreds of $ more.

I miss Escortís auto learn/mute repeated offending frequencies that I loved on my 9500ix. The R3 doesnít have that but Escortís patent is just about up or is recently surrendered so the Uniden R7 will get that functionally via firmware update. Iím fine with manually muting a frequency once Iíve encountered it several times.

Will I upgrade to an R7? Nope. Sensitivity is similar. And I donít need arrows for $200-300 more. I love how customizable the R3 is right now without needing a smart phone to operate it. Itís fully stand alone other than firmware and camera database updates needing a Mac or Windows computer. I like simplicity and performance so the R3 fits my current needs and budget. I liked it so much I retired my dadís V1 and bought him an R3 then I purchased another one to help protect my sister in her spirited driving. Many of my driving enthusiast friends also purchased an R3 based on my review. No one has once complained how epileptic it is to BSMs. Iím happy when Iím protected and all my friends are!

BMWs do decelerate incredibly well..... has kept me out of jail. I don’t care if the LEO sees smoke coming off the tires; they need the reading, and i’m not giving it to them.

Speeding is wrong; it's against the law, unsafe, kills baby seals, and causes pink eye.

Scofflaws using speed detection detectors to evade responsibility should be jailed and publicly flogged.

I got hit with laser back in 2011 by a city cop. My 8500 x50 rang out but it was too late. A few years later I replaced it with a V1 but even with the latest software it gave a ton of false lasers. If I remember right Volvo tail lights and Subaru front sensors were the primary culprits.

Yeah Mazdas and volvos set them off for me. Mountain View is the worst since the self driving cars are just big lidar disco balls and a V1 is pretty much useless around there.
