    Radar Detectors in 2019

    What would you buy?

After a roadtrip, my Escort 8500 X50 is showing its age. Way too many false alerts from stupid Hondas, and more range would be nice.
Last time I shopped for a radar detector the escort 9500 was king. For all I know it might still be king in terms of range.

God the ZHP is such an excellent car.

I like my V1, for Ka it cant be beat but I keep K and X off since I live in CA. Laser on it throws a lot of false alarms.

I also keep waze open to keep an eye out for cops, both work well together

Okay what? California doesn’t have K? If I had a dollar every time my radar went “BEEP BEEP. K BAND” I could pay my college tuition

You’re detecting Hondas' and others’ blind spot detection systems.

Right now I’m leaning towards the Rodenso Pro M for $450. The only reason being the blind-spot detection filtering is supposed to be really good. The alternative would be a Uniden R3 for $275 which offers superior performance but doesn’t have BSM filtering.

K band is only used by a handful of city cops, and very few still out of those actually use them, Ka and laser of the most common, but I've personally never seen laser used.

I have a Valentine One with custom sweeps programmed, highly recommend. Laser and KA is the only thing you really need to pay attention to K and X give you all kinds of false alarms without custom sweeps programmed. K and X are typically bank alarms, automatic doors at grocery stores, park distance sensors on the newer cars. Without custom sweeps my V1 drove me crazy! Now it’s super accurate and has less false alarms.

Thanks everyone. I was being a bit sarcastic, but I do get it far more often then cops. I think I had an older model but my V1 was ready to have a heart attack with how often it went off.

For whatever it’s worth I have the Uniden R3. Again, I was over embellishing with how often it goes off. I’m quite a fan and it’s at least saved my butt twice

I still rock a V1 with K and X turned off. Even with the latest filtering software update, K was false enough to make me ignore the thing altogether. Now when it goes off, I know it's for real.

Anyway, @rovert is on top of this radar magic. He'll bust up in here with some of the latest data and a pic of the back of his car.
