New member in GA - WTB ZHP

I am in the market for a special ZHP so I came to the source. Only requirement is a sedan. Preferences are conscientious care and service record, zero rust, and uncommon color. And, of course, a great price! Something close to GA would be nice too.

I'm Don Bower. I joined BMWCCA when I bought our first tii in 1972. We've owned a variety over the years and currently have a '71 2800CS and a '72 2002 targa. Feel free to contact me directly at don.bower@gmail.com. Thanks!

Welcome, Don! This is one of the best model-specific car forums I know of, lots of very helpful people in here. Similar to E9coupe.com, where I presume you are also a member. I had a '72 3.0CS for a few years, miss it a lot. Another forum member there purchased it and has done (still is doing?) an extensive refurbishment of the car.

Will this be your first ZHP?

I too am looking around, for a convertible that would be my 5th ZHP (I only own one right now). Cars listed here by members will typically be your best examples, especially from the care and records perspective. I check here, E46Fanatics, the usual online car sellers, etc. It is painful to navigate but occasionally you can find ZHPs through bmwusa.com, for sale at authorized BMW dealers. Their search feature only allows a 500 mile radius, so if you want to search nationally you have to enter different zip codes around the country as your starting point. Interestingly, some of the lowest mile cars at the best prices I have seen have been at BMW dealers. These cars are now old enough that it seems many of the used car managers do not understand what these cars are.

Best of luck in your search!

P.S. - I am from Atlanta, went to UGA, live in Dallas, TX now but hope to retire back in Atlanta soon. I would love to own another E9 so let me know if you need to liquidate you 2800CS to afford the ZHP!

    Oh, and Go DAWGS!!

    Don,

Do you prefer a manual or an steptronic car? And a budget in mind?

Thanks, guys. This will be my first ZHP - and one of the newest BMW I will have owned. I'm old and a sucker for the cars I knew as a whippersnapper.

I definitely want a stick. Budget is somewhat open depending on the vehicle. This will be a 6th vehicle for us so I won't be accruing lots of mileage, so a higher-mileage example with a good care record would work fine.

I am on FB and will join that group. And Cabrio, definitely GO Dawgs! Especially tomorrow!

Couple of pics attached. Thanks again.

Well, that didn't take long. Found a 2005 Alpine White over black leather sedan about a half hour away. Lotta rock chips, a little scruffy, 180,000 miles, but should serve my purposes fine. Thanks again for your help.

Good deal, Don! Glad you found this site. I recognize the Baur from 2002FAQ - I have a '74 tii.
