Strange. I noticed this car for sale at least a year ago, at this dealer. I didn't bother looking into it because it's on the east coast and I'm in Arizona.

I don't see on Autotrader if this is a new listing (relisted by the dealer). I wonder why it hasn't sold. Definitely needs a PPI.

Yeah people in the Facebook group just posted about this - some people who’ve seen it in the flesh and drove it said it had some concerns about it and how it drove.

So I actually went to check this car out today since its very local and I had a friend who was slightly interested. I do remember this car being for sale for a while and after looking at it today I can understand why.

First off, it looks like the dealer has had this car for over two years now (carfax shows title transfer 5/29/2018) where it had 113,414 miles. As of today, it has 113,460 miles. So this car has gone 46 miles total in the past two years.

This thing is rougher than the photos show, it spent time in texas and oklahoma which I'd wager is why the front bumper is so sand blasted (my M5 lived in texas for a few years and the bumper is pretty pitted).

The car did look rust free from what I could see, and amazingly as I went over it with my paint meter, it appears to have all original paint (between 3.6 and 4.2, roof was the thinnest and was clouding over so clear coat is hazing).

This thing was a smokers car for sure, that immediately struck me when I opened the door to verify the mileage. The interior seems pretty worn for the mileage (my 01 330i has 137k and is in way nicer shape in and out). The body has spots where the clear coat is hazing over (I think a good buff could bring a lot of it back) as well as 3 big dings on the pass rear quarter panel.

Long story short, it needs a lot of work, and I didn't even drive it. IMO this is like a 4-5 grand car tops, its not a super desirable trim or color, I imagine this'll just end up as someones beater eventually.

If someone on here is interested in going after this and low balling the dealer, I do have the bmw warranty report and was able to back track to the last owner of the vehicle (who still lives in the area), just let me know if you need any info.

^ nice write-up and photos offroadkarter! Agree with your comments, it needs a lot of work, especially after viewing your pics. As others have said, this car has been listed forever, so not a surprise its a bit of a mess.

All the exterior cosmetic issues can be fixed if you want to throw a bunch of $ at it, but getting the smoke smell out is a different issue altogether.

I've had experience with ozone for removing odors. Ozone is the ticket to ride. Some caveats:
    1. Ozone hits on any organic and many inorganic compounds.
    2. This means ozone if left inside the car for days on end (more than a week or two) will literally decompose the interior of a car. A day or two of ozone will likely get the job done.
    3. Small quantities of ozone inhaled will give you a headache.
    4. Ozone has an incredibly short half-life. This means within two or three minutes of turning off the ozone generator, all ozone has disappeared. Where did it go? Ozone is O3 (three oxygen molecules) and it breaks down into O2, the oxygen in the air we breathe. Ozone is a temporary creation and quickly degrades, but while it is in its O3 state, it is a fantastic way to get smoke residues out of house or out of a car.

Yep the dealers I’ve used also have done ozone for odor removal
