Yeah I was thinking of doing the same. But since I was doing some commercial work, I didn't want to pay for the license lol I'm not making that much lol Fusion was like $500/year. They just had a sale for like 50% off. That I can cover lol

I have been using TinkerCAD for a bit and have quite a few designs with them. I drew up a cup holder for my E30 on there. Did you have tk do a lot of mods to your Ender3 to use the onyx filament?

Thank you. I have an access to Mark Two printer that is made by Markforged. It I very nice and what is cool that filament can be reinforced with carbon fiber, kevlar or fiberglass. I do not own it, but have very frequent access.
As for the software I am using Solidworks simple because I have it installed on my work laptop. I know Fuson 360 is good and there using be a free 1 year trial if I am not mistaken.

But you don't need any crazy expensive CAD. I think most people learn with TinkerCAD which is free. I went with Fusion 360, it was free for students. Now I think you get a year. But it's enough for you to just do stuff and figure out how to design shit. Mostly mechanical parts though. It has trouble for curvy stuff, you can do it, but it's just harder. I have experience with Solidworks from like 10 years ago, and I swear Fusion 360 is backwards in how it does some shit. But it's plenty good enough to do a lot of the stuff you would need. Then you got Blender, which is free, for stuff like organic models and curvy stuff. FreeCAD as well, which I think is harder to use than Fusion.

Start with TinkerCAD and make the jack pad. It shouldn't take you too long lol
It nice to hear that we have some 3d printing nerds in this community.
Fusion 360 is great for sure.

+1 for Solidworks. I could be biased since I haven't used other CAD software much. I used ProE 8 years ago for a very short period of time and that is why I do not have any opinion about it.

Well I haven't used Onyx specifically (Not OP). But for other similar CF filament . You pretty much only got to do a hardened nozzle as the minimum since it's abrasive. I upgraded a lot of stuff because I plan to do a lot of other filaments in which the temp is way higher than what the stock components can handle. But to start out, really you don't need to upgrade anything. Especially, if you didn't get a warped bed like I did. If you want a strong filament that is pretty heat resistant as well for the car, you can use PETG. It doesn't require any upgrades on the printer.

I've only done a few upgrades (mostly self printed) to my printer. I will have to update the hot end so I can work with a wider variety of filaments. You are not alone on the warped bed, man. That is one of the most common complaints with the Ender 3.

Yeah mine was pretty bad. I actually took it out and bent it back some lol but I still couldn't fix a corner. I was only printing using half my bed for awhile until I was like screw this. Get EZABL and done That was the best mod imo. I hated leveling the bed and doing the paper thing. With a warped bed it just takes forever. Now I pretty much don't even touch it, just turn it on and print.

"e46SULEV," on e46fanatics developed a replacement CCV cap and diaphragm for the m56 valve cover (for those who performed the conversion). It looks like he's sold out of the caps and doesn't look to be producing more, but have made the CAD file and associated 3D printing files available.

    https://www.e46fanatics.com/threads/...80-01.1266795/

I bought one of the caps and they're really high quality in materials and fit and finish.

    Edit:
Post #50 has the CAD file,

I have sold all my caps! Thanks to everyone who ordered from me both here and on Ebay. Since I have recouped my investment in this project, I will release the CAD files here so that anyone else who needs a cap can make their own. You can try 3D printing it yourself if you have a really nice printer (not sure if PLA or ABS will hold up to engine temps though), or you can send an order to Stratasys Direct Manufacturing (same company I used to make the caps).

If you need a diaphragm, I have plenty of those left! You can either send me an order through this form (instructions in first post of this thread) or buy from Ebay: M56 Reproduction CCV Diaphragm (11127521080-01) | eBay

I have attached a file called CAD.txt. This is actually a .zip file so once you download it just change the file extension. Then extract. There are three CAD files: two .STL files and one .IPT file. The .IPT is the source CAD which can be viewed and edited in Autodesk Inventor. The .STL files can be sent directly to a 3D printer. One has the BMW and part number text, and the other does not.

To order from Stratasys, start here: Order 3D Printed Parts Online | 3D Print On Demand | Stratasys Direct

Then create an account and sign in.

    Click "Start a new Quote".

Upload the STL file. (Use the STL without the text. It's too small to be properly printed, and if you send them the file with the text they will tell you so!)

Make sure to select mm units.

Once the part is uploaded, use the following settings:
    Technology: Multi Jet Fusion
    Material: Nylon 12 PA Black
    Resolution: MJF Standard
    Material Color: Black
    Hand Finish: None
    Surface Treatment: Wet/Dry Blast Only

Price is $85 at the time of writing not including shipping

Click "Proceed to Checkout": at the very bottom of the webpage.

Complete the order. Then you are done!

How about the interior trim orange pieces or the silver pins?

Thank you for sharing it. I didn't know about those parts. I can easily print them because CAD file already exist.
