Hi Steve, you did a lot of work and your car looks awesome.
Out of curiosity, why did you go with OEM new driveshaft? 2 months ago I did the same thing, but I went with driveshafy rebuild specialist in TX. It was pretty fast turnaround ( 3 weeks) considering that I had to ship my shaft to them.
Also, what shop is doing work for you? I am using North Shore Motor Werks in Peabody. They are very good guys.

There is some vibration in the driveshaft that can be felt when shifting around 3rd gear on the highway.

Thanks! All my work is done at Boston Motor Werks in Belmont. Honestly, we didn't even consider other options. Figured order a new one and be done with it. Out of curiosity, what was the cost of the rebuilt one? www.bostonmotorwerks.com

They had zero E46 driveshaft in the middle of September. Frankly, most of time was lost on the ground shipping. It was 5 days each way between San Antonio and Boston. Actual rebuilt took 2 business days.
I had a several phone conversation with them and they whole communication and experience was very pleasant.

    Got it.
I've heard a lot of good things about that shop. Peabody is close to me and I am using them for some work that I cannot or do not want to do myself.

It was at the very early stage of failing. I decided to replace/rebuild it right away.
When car was accelerating, especially in 2 and 3rd gears around 2 -3 rpm, it had a bit of a chatter coming from the center of the car. It was more noticeable on ramps, when I was merging highways. Car felt like tires were hitting rumble strips on the roads. I took it to my mechanic, so we can see on the lift what was the issue. I was suspecting center support bering. Inspection revealed a play in driveshafts u-joints.
Car is 2005 zhp auto with 165,2xx miles on it.
Here is how my driveshaft looked after repair.
It got new u-joints, CSB, balancing, coating and 1 year warranty.
