BOOM. I finally got my Westfalia hitch while in Germany.

Guy selling it packaged it beautifully, I took it with me in my checked luggage, and the airline didn't even charge extra (what is this, the 90s?!).

About to start the install process for the hitch.

Ha! Let us know how it goes.

I'm trying to find a way to make a square receiver adapter to the quick release, so I can put a hitch-mounted bike rack. I don't want a roof rack and I obviously do not want a trunk rack because of paint damage. Would be nice to be able to put more than 1 bike in my trunk.

The Westfalia Hitch is absolutely worth the money. This thing is a work of engineering, not some 3rd party metalshop.

Unfortunately whoever installed my bumper didn't have the right bolt, or lost it. The one they put in instead rusted to hell, and now it's at a machine shop getting drilled out. Fun.

How did you get the seats to fold? Or did you just remove them?

Coupes all have folding rear seats.

This is incredible. I ordered the M-Tech Bumper from Schmiedmann in Denmark.

It took TWO DAYS to get here. Shipping across the state literally isn't as fast as Schmiedmann's shipping from Denmark!

I also have the wiring harness, as I write this I'm getting the PDF manual from Schmiedmann, then I'll see how I can install it. Unfortunately it looks like it will be painful. Last on the list will be finding a European 13-pole to U.S. 4-pole adapter.

    Sit rep:

The Euro-Wiring Harness is likely a no-go. Not only is it a PITA to install, but most of the features that come with it I'll just have to waste anyway by using a 4-pole adapter.

Looking now I've come up with several options:
    An expensive one from Curt:

    More expensive options:
    https://www.etrailer.com/t1-2004_BMW_3+Series.htm

    Cheaper options from Reese:
    https://www.reeseprod.com/products/e...ht-converters/

    Here's a store selling it:
    https://www.reese-hitches.com/produc...nverter,119130

My understanding is these are a bunch of relays with their own power so it won't affect and overload the existing wiring (this fried a light module on a car where I did a shitty job. Never again).

    Comments appreciated!
