Key FOB Issue

In the last week locking and unlocking my door with my key has been a 10% success deal... Is there a battery in there I can replace or do I need to order a new one? (Where if so?)

I bought a key at my Indy some years ago. You need to show proof of ownership (DL and registration). There's some process involved to match the new key to yor car. They did that for me.

I paid $190 back in 2015. You may try eEuroparts.com ( I bought a fob for my F30 over there ). Then you complete the match process yourself.

And seems like you can replace the battery, just have up jimmy the key open, use soldering iron to loosen and replace battery, and then glue it back...

Not the simplest process but not hard by any means... None of you have tried this method?

I'm assuming this is a power issue...

I didn't need to call them. But you are right, I don't see the e46 key on their website.

LOL how did you find it

We couldn't find it because it's no longer available

I guess I'll just try replacing the battery, if I'm careful I'm sure it'll be ok.
