    My shop did the OFHG on my X3 with N52 engine two months ago. They charged 2 hours of labor. I provided my own parts:

    11428637821 = OFHG
    11428637820 = Oil cooler seal

    I believe your car uses the same parts. Please be aware: this oil leak could make the serpentine belt to break. I had mine replaced at the same time, just to be on the safe side.

    Thanks for the info Fredo.

    I wanted to know if the oil stain around my oil filter housing looked bad too you guys, to compare if this is early in the deterioration process, or already looks bad.

    The top area doesn't look bad. How about the bottom? This is how mine looked before the repair.

    it doesn't look bad. i've had 3 N52s but have only had to do the OFHG once - on our 2007 X3, and that was about 10 years ago. from what i remember, it was a lot easier than on the M54.

    Thanks Peter. You guys with e90s that did the OFHG, how many miles on them when it was needed?

    I haven't looked at a video yet, but it appears there is a coolant line going in that one. I don't remember that being the case for the e46 OFHG.

    I replaced it two times already: 115k miles and 176k miles.

    We bought the X3 with 61k miles, I don't think it was replaced before then.

    Good to know. I have about 74K miles on it so it may be a bit premature.
