    330Ci with SMG Transmission

Just what exactly is this "species" of this 2004 330Ci? You will have to scan through the photos to see the SMG shifter.

I've seen 2 or 3 E46 sedans with SMG tranny. I ran this 330ci thru the decoder and this option came back:

I've seen quite a few 330i and 325i with SMG transmissions. They are particularly common on the Clubsport models, though I also frequently see them on base models.

I had a colleague about 2 years ago who had one. Apparently it was an option to US buyers if you did a Euro delivery. That’s how he did it. I looked into it a bit because I had no idea. Apparently it’s tuned less aggressive than the M3 SMG with all of the clunkiness still present. Not an ideal transmission but definitely an interesting one and having an auto ZHP has me wondering if maybe it would fit with the car a little better.

They refer to this SMG as the SMG 1 and people avoid it like the plague. Like you mentioned, not as responsive as the M3 SMG but has all the same problems and costs associated to it.

I've worked on like 2 or 3 of these before. All of them were FL coupes wanting to do angel eye installs. But I remember on the shift knob itself, it always said SSG
