    Dension Gateway 300

The long-promised "review" of my Dension Gateway 300 iPod Integration kit is finally here. Please excuse the quality of the sound on the video; for some reason my camera can't catch sound quite properly.

    Please watch here on YouTube:

The video is in HD Quality so it may take a little while to buffer.

Hello - Was it necessary to pull the head unit and cut any wires?

Yes, the head unit has to come out; removal is super easy (remove the center trim, unscrew the head unit and out it comes). It's mostly a plug and play setup.

So, I've had some time with the unit, and can offer a long term point of view.

This unit is nearly flawless. I have never had to unplug it / plug it back in to fix an issue. It always works the first time I start my radio, so I never have to power cycle the radio, either.

The only thing that it does every once in a while is that when you play the first song of an album, every once in a while it will try to play that song for a good 15 or so second (it will be silent) and then move on to the 2nd song in the album and the rest play fine. Always only on the first song, and this happens maybe once every few weeks or month. Once it does it, the rest of the albums you want to play after it will play fine. I think it's a minor bug that isn't really even a big deal.

Overall, my long-term rating of this product is 9.6/10. It's missing the .4 purely for the lack of some kind of pause button (you have to power the unit off to pause it, which isn't a problem because it resumes playback where you left off when you turn it back on).

It is a little disappointing that you still have to plug a cable into it to use the Lightning device. I was hoping they'd come out with a cable that goes from the unit to a Lightning connector.
